Police Story 2 is Chan's weakest of the trilogy. For the remaining scenes, they used an actress with similar hair as Cheung in long shots, or with her back to the camera. Cheung was too slow and got smacked in the back of the head, resulting in a concussion and a lot of blood (seen in the ouchtakes at the end of the film).

She was running through a line of metal racks as they fell like dominos behind her. Normally Chan takes the hits in his films, but in this one, Maggie Cheung got whacked badly. It culminates in a fight at a fireworks factory, and you can guess how that ends. Cho disappears from the storyline and the bombers become Chan's focus, although things go very badly when May and Chan are kidnapped and he's forced to do their dirty work. In the meantime, extortionists are demanding $10 million from the owner of a large corporate office or they will blow it to bits. He promises three months of misery for Chan and his girlfriend May (Maggie Cheung). Then he learns the villain from the original, Cho Tu, is out of jail since he has only three months to live.

Chan is in hot water for all the destruction he caused in the first film and is busted down to traffic cop for it. Police Story 2 hit in 1988, opening right where the first film left off.

The first Police Story came out in 1985, introducing Chan as Hong Kong detective Ka Kui (or Kevin) Chan. It must be awfully hard for him to get out of bed some mornings. Then came the granddaddy of lunacy in the third film, Super Cop, hanging from a helicopter's rope ladder 1,000 feet up above the streets of Kuala Lumpur with nothing to secure him but his own two hands. He also swung off the back of a bus, hanging on by an umbrella as the bus whipped around corners. In the first film, Jackie slid down a three-story pole wrapped in lights and was nearly electrocuted. Not that the original Police Story series didn't nearly kill him. The result is a list of injuries to rival Mick Foley, including one near-fatality. No matter how dangerous the stunt or how big a star he became, the former stuntman who was once legitimately knocked silly by a Bruce Lee in Enter the Dragon insisted on taking the risk himself. Known for his fighting skills, Chan made a switch to outrageous stunts that became his hallmark - because he did all of his own stunts. Jackie Chan's star had already risen in Hong Kong before he did the Police Story trilogy, but it was these films that put him in high orbit.
